Friday (Saturday) Favorites Vol. 3

Hi all!

What a week this has been. I still can’t seem to wrap my mind around the Vegas tragedy. I knew so many who were there at that concert, and one who unfortunately passed away. My heart goes out to all the victims. But, thoughts and prayers aren’t enough anymore. We need to start taking a hard, critical look at the gun laws in our states, and the country as a whole. Enacting common sense gun laws is the first step to ending this unnecessary violence. I won’t get any more preachy than this, but if you want to look into how you can start talking to your local reps, check out Everytown for Gun Safety.

Along that same vein, Puerto Rico is still facing an incredible crisis. My dad just got back from relief work there, and I also have a good portion of family on my mom’s side who live in PR. Anything you can give would help their recovery efforts. It’s going to be a long, hard road. But, Puerto Rican’s are nothing if resilient.

Okay…into some favorites!

I have had my eyes on some books to start reading to get inspired from a personal motivation/workplace standpoint. The first is The War of Art: How to Break Through the Blocks and Win your Inner Creative Battle. I have so many ideas and intentions when it comes to writing and I could really use some structure and guidance to organize them and actually follow through. I’ve heard great things about this book!

The other book is Rise, Sister, Rise: A Guide toUnleashing  the Wise, Wild Woman Within. The title is pretty self explaintory. Who doesn’t love a good “I am woman, hear me roar” book?!

There is one other book I’ve been eyeing, but this one isn’t so much a leisurely read. I want to tackle this one to help me get more active and involved with my blog. The price tag has been the deterrent for me, but I’ll probably cave and get it because I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.

I’m looking forward to Elizabeth learning how to read! I read SO much when I was younger. When I finished all the books on my shelf, I read them again. I hope she inherites my love for reading. And if she does, I can’t wait to get her the Empowerment Series! These books look adorable and also have some great life lessons in them.

I’ve been dying to redo Elizabeth’s room. I can’t get too crazy since we rent, but I’m obsessed with all the removable wallpaper from this shop.

I stumbled on this article earlier in the week. It combines two personal favs; brownies and Katharine Hepburn.

Last favorite…have you guys heard of Brandless?  I kept seeing Instagram ads for them and I finally took the bait. I’m so glad I did! They’re amazing. Everything on their site is just $3. Everything. EVERYTHING! It’s the same concept as Trader Joe’s, as they receive all of their products from a distributor so you don’t pay the markup of brand name. Their food items are usually non-GMO, organic and sometimes gluten free or vegan. Brandless also focuses on working in their community and focusing on ending hunger. They have some fantastic snacks, health products and even some home goods. I highly recommend the quinoa puffs and the gummy fish. I bought 12 items and my total was $36. Told you, it’s all $3! If you sign up for their mailing address, your first order ships for $3 as well. Check out my Insta post to see the goodies I got.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
